Scripture Challenge Week 1 - Faith

These are my first cards for the scripture challenge going on over at Faith Sisters. They are designed so that when they are printed, they can be affixed to jumbo size plastic coated playing cards and then can be kept at hand for memorization and encouragement. GLAD - Faith Sisters Inspirational Challenge #2

Another picture from my stepmom's and sister Emily's travels to Italy last fall. I used elements from Raspberry Road's Hemingway's Travels Collection and Nappa Valley Collection to create a warm layout that not only makes me feel like I'm standing in the sun in a vineyard, but works perfectly with the scripture that I chose for the challenge.

Under the Tuscan Sun

Back in 2001, I missed a chance to go to Italy with a friend of mine. Since then, I've really wanted to go . . . she has been back again and again, taunting me each time with her photos. She just went last year. Then my step-mom won a trip to Italy last fall and took her daughter along with her. These are some of the photos from their trip. Whenever I look at them, I can't help but think of "Under the Tuscan Sun." I love that book and movie and I just really feel like I would fit right in, lounging about, enjoying good food, lovely scenery, local personalities . . . ahhh, in my dreams, it's just perfect.

When I say I am a Christian . . .

When I say "I am a Christian," I'm not shouting ''I'm clean livin."
I'm whispering "I was lost, now I'm found and forgiven."
When I say "I am a Christian," I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say "I am a Christian," I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say "I am a Christian," I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say "I am a Christian," I'm not claiming to be perfect.
My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it.

I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

This is a shout-out to my Faith Sister, Jackie Ann, who shared this today over in the forum with all of us and I just love it. Jackie Ann has a great sense of humor and is compassionate and caring . . . and she prays with and for me! In fact, I've got a spiritual family growing 400 strong now . . . it's amazing to me that God has blessed me with so many Christian friends! A big thank you and much love going out to ALL my sisters.

Say A Prayer

My younger sister Jessy is having a c-section this afternoon. She is almost 29 weeks. If you stop by and happen to read this, please say a prayer for her and the baby, and the rest of the family, too. Thanks.

Wonder - The Shaker Box - Do It Digi Wednesday - Doodlerific! Challenge

How precious is this? Sometimes when I look at him I am so amazed that God placed this unique creature in my care. We've had such a rough time with his health these first two years, yet his personality is so fun and he is SO loving and affectionate. While I partly named this LO "Wonder" because of his expression, the other part of me named it that way because of the way I feel when I look at it. Wonder. Amazement. Thank you, Lord.

Pink and Happy Yummy Flowery Goodness

This LO is called Beautiful and contains pictures of flowers from my Grandma's garden that my mother arranged in this cool vase, and they are resting on a crocheted doily made for my birthday by my Grandma.

Household Chores

So I'm a domestic goddess, huh? Well, I do rule over my house.

There was a time when I completely let this inanimate thing have total control over me. Sometimes it has partial control. But most of the time I am on top of things.

It's simple, really. Just have to do the thing(s) you don't want to do. Just get up and do it. Lately, I've been making a little internal deal with myself: can't scrapbook, work on blog, or go to forums until I've completed x, y, z. It's been working. I still have loads of time for family, scrapbooking, Bible study. It's amazing, honestly.

So just try it. Do the thing you really don't want to do and then reward yourself. When you are done with the reward, do another thing you don't want to do. Before long, you will find that you have a lot more free time that is really FREE because there is no guilt of "not having things done."

TRY - Color Selection 2Peas/2sday Challenge

Awww, my sweet little boy in October when I got brave enough to let him eat an apple without cutting off the peel and chopping it into tiny pieces. He loved chomping down, but did spit out the peel (gross) hither and yon . . . I felt like I was picking up apple from everywhere. He now prefers to eat his apple peeled and sliced into "fries." Works for me. I had to take pictures of him though. He was REALLY chowing down! The color selection on the photo took a little time, but otherwise, the LO really created itself. I open up Lorie's kits and my imagination just runs wild! Can I add this? What will this look like? And her collections are jam packed with the loveliest elements and papers. You can use them over and over again and they are versatile enough to be used in conjunction with other collections. Okay, I'm done with my cheerleading for tonight. Enjoy the eye candy!

'Twas The Month After Christmas

‘Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I’d nibbled, the eggnog I’d taste
At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I’d remember the marvelous meals I’d prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The punch and the candy, the bread and the cheese
And the way I’d not said, “No thank you, please.”
As I dressed my self in my husband’s old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt---
I said to myself, as I only can
“You can’t spend a winter disguised as a man!”
So—away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
“Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won’t have a cookie—not even a lick,
I’ll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won’t have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I’ll munch on a carrot and quietly cry,
I’m hungry, I’m lonesome, and life is a bore---
But isn’t that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot,
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!
