Saying Goodbye

Today my brother left for Montgomery, AL for processing and then will begin basic training for the Army. These are some of the pics I took today. It's been surreal. I mean, a blink of an eye ago I was walking into the hospital to see him for the first time. And now he's going off to train to defend our country.

It was really hard to say goodbye. Love you so much little brother!

The Dream Book

I've always loved books, and my daughter is entering that realm where books become another world. This page is what it's like for me to go to another world and then come back to reality. Together

Today our little girl graduated from fifth grade! Wow! She's gonna be a middle-schooler now - just so hard to believe. Today was her graduation/awards ceremony. The girl just kept getting one thing after another: she got a medal for Accelerated Reader points, a Citizenship Award from the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, a President's Education Award, a medal for A Honor Roll all year, a certificate for Perfect Attendance AND a trophy for the highest grade point average in her class. I'm just so proud! Uh, like you can't tell.

These pictures were taken this afternoon after we had gone to eat lunch. Today was a good day. And a day we were together. Just lovely.

The Reader

I am such a reader. I mean all the time. I'm forever carrying around a book "just in case" I get stranded somewhere or have an extra five minutes. I read morning, noon and night. Olivia has always been a good reader, but has always preferred to do something else. Until now. About this same age, I became an avid reader. And it's so neat to see her doing the same thing. She fell in love with the Traveling Pants series and she was out on the patio reading away one evening. I just love seeing her like this, and I love being able to share the love of reading with her, too.
